Announcements, News & Events / Vermont Considers Ibogaine Legislation
« on: April 25, 2015, 06:32:39 PM »
http://reset.me/story/gov-of-vermont-considers-ibogaine-program/ - from a facebook group, this post raised my eyebrows...the mere notion that ANY high level State official(s) regard this medicine enough to risk openly advocating it [in any fashion] astonishes me. There must really be a severe opiate problem in Vermont, not that this is news to many other states, but the reality of the incumbent Governor's endorsement for a pilot program to assess the efficacy of so 'radical' a treatment leaves me ...befuddled frankly. By and large I am of the mind that most any 'news' regarding the use of ibogaine to treat addictions is 'good' - sometimes even negative press can still have a positive impact insofar as drawing attention to this model of treatment where otherwise a particular demographic would have perhaps been totally unaware - but this is beyond the pale. How likely is it such a program will receive the green-light? I wonder...this might truly be crack in the dam...they are proposing a pilot study to last three years, the specifics of which are still in development but they've a solid idea where to take it it seems. The target population is the refractory [opioid]  addicted person, who has tried unsuccessfully to eliminate their problem via any other sanctioned pharmacological/medical method.

It will be very interesting to keep close watch on this and see where it goes...even if it doesn't gain official sanction, the sheer [can I say it?] audacity, the Balls, for anyone in political office to propose this is almost crazy.

Eboka Talk / Common drugs that Prolong QT Interval
« on: July 07, 2013, 11:35:42 PM »

Ibogaine research has suggested that one of the possible side effects of the medicine is a prolonged QT interval. Clinics and providers look for this anomaly when they review a prospect's EKG.

Here's a couple references which provide some background on what prolonged QT means, and also contains a list (not complete) of some common drugs known to produce this effect:

http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/157826-overview

http://drugs.emedtv.com/medicine/qt-prolonging-medications.html

Those considering treatment with iboga/ibogaine would do well to peruse the list and dig around to see if they are on any of these meds - or have been in the recent past.  :)

Every little bit counts - and these are just a few ways we can mitigate risks and keep ibogaine treatment as safe as possible.

Announcements, News & Events / NEW SPONSOR
« on: April 28, 2013, 04:19:06 AM »
Greetings Family ~

I have not been here much of late, a situation I am not proud of and am working to process back in to the time needed for me to manage things.

As you may have noticed we have a new sponsor for the boards, and I would like to welcome http://www.rueshop.com/ to Eboka. They have been kind enough to send sample of their high quality Syrian Rue to me and I can say it is impressive material.

This thread is for Q and A as well as for me to say a few things in regard to safety and to make certain there is no ambiguity among the newcomers concerning the intent of suppliers/vendors on Eboka - who are not vending iboga products:

This site is, obviously primarily about iboga/ibogaine - but has evolved into a more full spectrum entheogen community with emphasis on eboka. The entheogen demographic is a small subculture and iboga represents one of the smallest niches therein...however, it is inevitable that discussions of other psychedelic compounds and entheogenic experiences will occur in due course, when we talk about things such as deep spiritual searching, matters of the heart and mind and so forth. Few people here have only experience with iboga, and many have none at all....yet.
Ayahuasca is often a discussion and many times experincers find their tasks with Yage and iboga can dovetail - this spirals in many directions and the ideas behind sponsorship are not what many think: this place has never been about money, it has never made a nickle and still costs us to run - no, the idea about having sponsors - to my mind  - serves a dual purpose: it lends a certain 'legitimacy' to the boards in some regard, read in to that what you will, and it offers members here the chance to explore many varieties of entheogenic experiences, and do so with the surety of knowing there are trusted sources right on hand. Safe and discreet services provided by decent reputable sources is something I highly value and though there are sponsors here it is by no means an attempt to gain any exclusivity for these sites, even if someone uses them as a starting point or reference for what ever they ultimately are seeking, it has been a boon...

Eboka.info began as a small experiment and has exceeded my wildest imaginings, and so has often, as now - caught me off guard and somewhat ill prepared to fill the role I have set for myself. I will do my best to catch up - I am learning relationships as many of you are, and I am also learning responsibility to those relationships...I can be a slow learner.

Of deepest import is that there be NO CONFUSION ABOUT THE MXING OF MAOI's AND IBOGA/IBOGAINE...particularly if you are new to this material and work. Some cultures incorporate some ibogoid containing plants in their preparations, but this is ADVANCED shamanism and never ever to be considered by any layperson or over enthusiastic amateur. BE SMART.

DO NOT MIX SYRIAN RUE AND IBOGA/IBOGAINE...the same goes for other MAOI's like Banesteriopsis caapi (ayahuasca) and eboka. A member asked after a subforum for advanced persons who are well versed in these matters. We have a tattered forum that gets no real attention these days that was, earlier on, set to fit that very task. It has fallen by the wayside and I will be discussing its resurrection with pkeffect, to the tone of the suggestions made by members. We will likely move in that direction, but it will not be immediately. Please for now confine any discussions of these advanced matters to off site emails or PMs.

I want no misunderstandings about the nature of eboka, or the reasons for our allowing sponsors here. I have taken grief for having a poppy pod sponsor up a couple years ago - what the grievers didn't acknowledge was the FACT that many come here needing/looking for a treatment to detox from opiates. Some of these folks are on LAOs like methadone or suboxone and need to 'roll over' to something shorter acting (an SAO) like morphine, to give themselves a safer experience and a better shot at mitigating PAWS. Though the pods were obviously for floral decorations, they can be used by those wishing to roll over to an SAO - and while they are creating floral decor they can be planning their flood with less on their plate and mind. THAT was the reason, nothing else.
So it is with other plant teachers and people's access to safe, quality materials - it makes sense to have these things around, and people can explore for themselves what kinds of interests they have with a little greater ease if there are places to hand that offer such implements or at least a good place to begin a search.

I welcome any questions comments or ideas, and I hope I am clear in that by allowing another sponsor here that provides a specific commodity, that is in NO WAY any kind of endorsement to flagrantly use this with iboga. Again, anyone and everyone here is responsible, solely responsible, for their actions or in-actions with regard to these boards. It is absolutely incumbent on myself and whatever 'staff' we have to entreat caution and to inform the citizenry that we do not suggest or advocate concomitant use of ANY of these items - especially without diligent research on the part of the seeker, and we cannot and will not endorse imbibing any controlled substances - if this is the case where you live - ad infinitum, et cetera, and so forth.

I care deeply about this place and you people...you - YOU - are why we are all here. Thanks to each of you and welcome to Rue Shop! Thanks, ~Cal
