Help People Find Sitters
« on: June 04, 2016, 05:48:16 PM »
Hi,
I wonder if we can start up some kind of program that pairs people together: One person who has flooded before and has extensive knowledge and experience of Iboga, and one person who is a newbie wanting to do a flood and is having a hard time finding the right set and setting in which to do it. There are a lot of people out there who want to do it but for whatever reason, their social, financial, and/or familial resources prohibit them from having an ideal Iboga experience, and so they need help navigating the logistical problems through recovery and/or spiritual development.

I'd say I fall into both categories of people: I've done a flood and a half and I know a butt-ton about Iboga, but I am also looking for a proper set, setting, and sitter to do another Flood or two in, as my resources pretty slim.

What do you think? Is it too much to ask?

Hi Rhythm,

I think its a great idea. Is it possible that we can set up a sub section on the main board specifically for this?

If i can help in anyway let me know.

:-)

I think this is a great idea too. I would strongly suggest to also urge sitters to read or at least review the main parts of this document, dealing with the risks, preparation and what to be aware of when using iboga/TA/ibogaine:

This is a great resource for sitters and clinics, compiled by experts and providers in the community.

Where do you all think this section should be located forum wise ?

I would be really interested in this section, too.

I suggest to create a topic in "general".

Hi,

I would be ok to be a sitter, if it's ok for the person to be a sitter for me in return.

Good idea. I would help people is the USA when I am there.
If these are heavy detoxes you really do need some tests before hand.
Things like methadone and Suboxone can get pretty dangerous. I have seen it quite a few times, people stop breathing.
You have to ready for that stuff and be in the same room as the person... awake the whole time.
Have you ever stayed awake with iboga for 3 nights in a row caring for someone? If not you probably shouldn't be sitting for heavy detoxes like Suboxone and methadone. Or you need to experiment with iboga and stay awake while still being able to move around normally , think clearly etc. For a few nights.
If it is pills or a smaller H habit then you can get away with only staying awake for 48 hours with them until they finally sleep.
It is a huge responsibility to be a sitter and in my mind doesn't involve just being there in the other room.
You need to be there 24/7 with them awake until the heaviest part of the withdrawals passes.
Detoxes are dangerous. I have participated in many of them.
Just a bit of caution.
With that said I am down to sit when I can.
Also I bring some shamanism to the sitting.

I hope someone follows through with this.  I live in the US and have no clue how I'd find an experienced sitter if I decide to DIY.
