Greetings Everyone,

It has been a while since I have come around to lay down some information so here we go.

  • We missed a milestone:  Eboka.info registered by GKG.NET, INC. for Joseph DeArmond on 09-23-2010. Joseph DeArmond renewed on 08-26-2015 until 09-23-2016. - Happy belated Sun Orbit!
  • After 3 people and 5 credit cards later my registar finally accepted payment for eboka.info which was set to expire today. We are good for another year.
  • On a personal note, I have not had a drink of alcohol since April 7, 2016. Woohoo!

Been working my ass off the past couple months with not much time for anything else. As the weather gets cooler here I will be having more time to get back to things web wise. If you all have any suggestions or issues please feel free to post them or message me.

The road less traveled is the one with the most to explore.

Sincerely,
pkeffect

The good new is we are back on a stable server and are good on things for at least another year. The bad news is we lost the last few weeks of posts. The only back ups that seemed to work were kind old. I apologize for the loss of data and your time. Future backups will obviously be tested before the board needs to be moved again.

Sincerely,

I am pretty much...well not even pretty much, I am broke as @#$@. Domain registration is due soon. If we could come up with $15 that would be great. Don't need it all from one person.

Will update on my situation later if anyone cares.

Announcements, News & Events / Update
« on: June 19, 2015, 01:43:15 PM »
To all Ebokans,

We have migrated back to our old server which has been wiped clean and upgraded both software and hardware wise. There should not be any issues along lines of function. The forum software has also been updated as well. I appreciated the patience you all have had.

You may have noticed I have removed all but one of our Sponsors. The rest of them either didn't feel the need to reapply or simply forgot maybe.

As always any donations are welcome and can be sent via paypal or debit card to josephdearmond@gmail.com or by clicking the donate button here: http://pkeffect.com/time.php

Thanks again for keeping this community alive.

Announcements, News & Events / Expected Outage
« on: October 25, 2014, 03:42:34 PM »
Eboka.info will be moving to a new server soon. I am not completely sure when, hopefully sometime this weekend. It may not be reachable web wise for 24 - 48 hours. I am trying to get everything off of the current server in order to wipe it clean and start fresh. Our new host has been around since about 93/94 and is very stable. I have no objections to the move and have total confidence that we will maintain the up-time we have had all this time.

So bare with me as we make this transition.

Thank you,

- pkeffect

EDIT: I will still maintain the site myself and have root access to the new server so nothing should change in that respect. ;)

If you registered within the last couple days, chances are your request was denied and deleted. We have be bombarded with spam accounts.....damn russians (no offense). I have implemented a couple new registration tactics I hope will circumvent these requests.

If any 'real' people were caught in the drag net, I am sorry and ask that you resubmit your request to join.

Thanks,

I am not a babysitter. Neither are any other mods or admins. If you all can't get along I would suggest thinking before you speak, if you intend to at all. I am considering different registration options for the board. I have to rewrite the Essay registration for the Lycaeum Forum soon. Maybe I will end up integrating it here as well.

On the main registration page their would be an area to submit an essay. Say around 300 words explaining why you are wanting to join our community etc. These would be reviewed by the admins and mods and voted on. Pretty much anything that's not spam or BS would be accepted.

This is only an idea and one that won't occur for a bit anyway. I am working a full time job now and trying to take care of all the sites I still host or maintain. No one is above anyone else.

I will post more about the changes and updates that will be occurring soon at a later time.

I am still getting emails from people sending PM's to each other because they don't understand how the system works. I do not like what I am seeing. I am thinking of turning off the PM system entirely and making you all keep in contact with each other through email.

1. You are putting me, yourself and this whole community in jeopardy.

2. This is not a place for you to make back doors deals.

3. Use some fucking common sense people.

4. This will not be tolerated at all....

With this said. For fuck sakes people use encrypted email or email alone to talk about shit you can't in public. I will not fucking take the heat for some of the shady shit going on behind the scenes. This is not what this forum is for.

I do not want to turn the PM system off but if you don't even know how to send a PM to someone without it coming to my email then you probably shouldn't be asking for what you are from who you are to begin with.

This is me cutting it out now. Stop. I am not playing........

GD is reinstated as a global mod and I have full confidence that he will provide a greater ability in that position. The more iboga gets publicized the more it gets scrutinized the more they look at the sites about it the more they see us because we are on the top.

Stop sending shady PMs to each other using our system. It's simple. Give someone your email. You know how many of you would be fucked if I were to get a court order to provide my server data? I am giving all our members 1 week to get your PM data you want saved. Next weekend I will wipe all PMs. I am not disabling it but I will be getting rid of whats saved on the server. This may become a weekly or biweekly script that clears shit out. This is for the benefit of all of you.

So save what you want. But if I keep getting emails of PMs from people that can't figure out how to use the system which allows me to see what you are saying to others when I shouldn't, then how can you blame me for trying to protect us.

I love you all but for fuck sakes come on.  ???

Announcements, News & Events / Donations for Eboka.Info
« on: September 26, 2012, 02:59:09 PM »
Dear Eboka members,

As someone pointed out, the old thread title was a bit misleading or confusing. So I sent that one out to greener pastures and began a new one. It is that time of year again when we need help from our community and our sponsors to cover so costs for the site and server. Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated from the staff and myself.

Donations can be made through Paypal by clicking the button located here... https://bluesphereweb.com/pkeffect/time.php <-- (had to change it, moving soon so don't know when my local server will drop.) (which is to pkeffect@gmail.com ). You do not need a Paypal account donate from there, only a credit/debit card. If someone wants to donate but can't or don't want to use Paypal please contact me via PM here or email me pkeffect@gmail.com and we can work something out.

Hope the new title clears up any confusion.

Announcements, News & Events / So It Finally Comes Down To This
« on: April 11, 2012, 03:36:28 PM »
Flamming, trolling, asshattery and general fucktardery.

None of this will be tolerated on this forum. Period. I have been administrating and hosting forums for over a decade and have seen the very best and the most horrid of people. With this said. You will get 1, count it, 1 warning if you are out of line. After that you will receive a partial ban of read-only for 30 days. If you come back and retaliate here or any other site against someone with whom your ideas don't agree with you will be banned permanently. If you continue to harass people from this site on different sites all of your information that is clearly in the public domain will be gathered and sent to those who can take action against you and your bullying harassing ways.

I hate having to make this post but I don't want any confusion. This will not be tolerated by me or the rest of the moderators and admins. There is no place for it here or anywhere else on the net.

Religion and politics have caused more wars, destroyed more friendships and eventually have led to the deaths of more people than anything in history combined. Keep it civil or don't discuss any of it here at all. There are tons of other places on the internet to do this.

In closing, your ideas and beliefs are your own. Forcing your agenda on someone else makes you as bad as those you believe in or oppose because when it comes down to it it's all about control in one form or another. Just because you like some piece of shit a little better than another piece of shit doesn't make either piece of shit not stink.

End rant...

Announcements, News & Events / Dragibus Magazine Kickstarter
« on: February 09, 2012, 11:03:46 PM »
I should have posted this sooner.....

Quote
Dragibus! Help fund a new entheogenic print magazine.

Hello all,
I am just making my way over here from the eDot fallout. I was 'himdumb' over there, and most of the rest of the entheo sites but thought i go with dragibus here. Anyway, I am attempting to start a quarterly print publication on the botany, cultivation, history, and usage of medicinal and entheogenic plants. I am crowd-funding the operation through Kickstarter and need some help doing it. If you arent familiar with kickstarter it is a website where you submit projects that you need funding for. People pledge different amounts to try and help you meet your goal. No one pays anything unless the funding goal is met ($5k in my case) and it wont be charged until the end of my project (Feb 16th). Those pledging to the project will receive rewards, like copies of the magazine, a 'thank you' in the magazine, ad space, ...

Dragibus is to be a quarterly print publication on the botany, cultivation, history, and usage of medicinal and entheogenic plants. Our publication will be a glossy, full color, full size magazine. We intend to have at least 28 pages and print at least 1000 copies. The money raised will go towards funding the cost of production, printing, and shipping of the first issue. Any extra money raised by our project will go towards printing more pages in the issue and more copies of the magazine.

In the first few issues of our magazine we intend to have articles on Banisteriopsis species cultivation and identification, a study of Acacia confusa, a look at Entheogenesis Australis 2011, herbal beer recipes, plant history pieces, interviews, and more.

For more info check out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crudd/dragibus

Thanks everyone and I hope we can make this happen,
Dragibus

I highly recommend helping out if you can :)

Announcements, News & Events / A plea to all members and lurkers....
« on: December 15, 2011, 01:41:46 PM »
Dear Eboka members,

As you may have noticed most of our sponsor banners are gone. After weeks of sending emails for them to renew only a couple returned our inquiries. I removed them because we know they are making a very good living from the members and friends of this board. It is not cheap running a server and we can't afford to do it without help. With this said I am making an official plea here and at 2 more forums I host for donations. We are not greedy either, I am only asking for donations of $1 - $5, anymore would be appreciated but not needed. The sad thing is this server would have no money issues at all if as little as 10 people out of the hundreds of active registered users on the boards we host donated as little as $2 a month a piece.

Donations can be made through Paypal by clicking the button located here... http://pkeffect.com/time.php. You do not need a paypal account donate from there only acredit/debit card. If someone wants to donate but can't or don't want to use Paypal please contact me via PM here or email me pkeffect@gmail.com and we can work something out. We hope everyone is ready for the new year upon us because I think its going to be a doozy.

To the members and guests viewing this forum. Over the past few months we have been absolutely bombarded with SPAM registrations. I was expecting the update to the software to solve this problem and last night while I slept over 470 bots registered on more than half of the forums I run and maintain. Eboka was the hardest one hit with over 100 alone.

I have implemented a few new security features.

For all those planning on registering, you will have to answer 2 simple questions. These registration questions should probably be changed once a month or so. I also went through and deleted every member from the database who both had never logged in and who had never made a post. There were a few hundred and I am sure if we lost anyone who wasn't a bot it was probably one or two since the boards inception. There are also probably quite a few bots left n the db that were able to make a post or 5 that was deleted and or banned but never removed. Getting them out will be a slow process but at least they won't be making anymore posts.

A lot of actual people and not SPAM where denied membership during the past couple months. Some just managed to slide trough the cracks and we are sorry for the issues. For any of those reading this please re-register your account. The chances of loosing an actual person now is very unlikely.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up. I will continue to tweak and manage the software as situations arise.
