I wonder this often, having engaged in frequent discussion with people freshly post session. its interesting because its not just post apocalyptic ... its nwo stuff.. disturbing and large scale.. I sometimes looked at the people who would have these and wonder if it was a matter of the substances the were using previously.. sorta detoxing the spirits of pharmaceuticals ?
I have also wondered if thats how the plant sees us in the here and now...
I imagine that since we as humans are so out of sink with natural time and so... Koyaanisqatsi ... and its habitat is the jungle.. that it is mirroring the horror that we are actually living in and are already numb to.. (think the frog in boiling water)

maybe it is filtering its messages thru a violence or threat that registers with us?

I never have future stuff.. I am always either in some "primitive" culture... or pre human with apes and aliens.... sorta re-witnessing the genetic memory of evolution...

weird how these themes run so consistently common..

I will be curious to see what other have to say on this (this aspect of iboga fascinates me... the dialogue we as westerners have)

http://earthengine.google.org/#intro/Amazon

I am not sure if this will post what i was looking at.. but when i stopped, i had zoomed deep into the jungles of africa and south america to watch the deforestation that we have been doing for the past few decades... in some places its worse, in others you can see the grids forming and eventually branching into sectional clearing...

the map is interesting.. you can move it about to wherever you want and zoom in to watch globally,  the satellite images for the  past 30 years time lapse... watch the expansion of one thing and the decline of others....

(i can see it didnt leave off where I wanted... I had it poised over Gabon... this just sets you back to the amazon..
enjoy

Eboka Talk / Re: After flood what kind of supplaments
« on: May 01, 2013, 11:59:28 AM »
I know this is labeld as AFTER FLOOD... but these are my favorite Pre and after favs...

agua agua agua.. water..
make a conscious effort to gradually hydrating yourself the days before.. and the day of... this is so simple but really makes a world of difference ...
(also no food the day of... at the very least 8 hours pre)
ALSO... I dont like to drink a lot of water at all RIGHT BEFORE and early into the session.. chugging water to "catch up" on water intake right before session leads to having to get up more often when its better to just be still.. and also sometimes , urinating for much longer.. much much much more longer.
small sips during..

also.. its a good idea to get some water soluable magnesium ... the best stuff is called CALM... comes in a white bottle, sold in health food stores and many exercise stores..
you wanna do it over a few days (start slow tho!!!! its often used as a laxative because of how it interacts with the intestines)  like 1 tablespoon (or slightly less) in a glass of warm water.... a little more the next day and the day of flood.. and of coarse after..

it helps keep body hydrated and of coarse...
helps with the muscles during detox of any substance..

:)

BHANDA LOCKS!!!! hahaha

seriously tho...

Brahmacharya
literally means Achara or conduct that leads to the realization of Brahman or one’s own Self. It means the control of semen, the study of the Vedas (scriptures) and contemplation on God. The technical meaning of Brahmacharya is self-restraint, particularly mastery of perfect control over the sexual organ or freedom from lust in thought, word and deed. - Swami Sivananda

That looks awesome... despite the 700$ price tag .... boy, read words reduce the price to 75?
anyhoooo....
it seems fascinating...
I think one of the things I would personally be keeping an eye out for if I were to read it, would be ..
(it seems as tho you have been around other peoples visions enough to know what I am talking about here... )
re-accuring themes and "characters"

I am always curious how we as westerners interpret another cultures archetypes..

you know that one study they did where they gave Ayahuasca to ... the Inuit? (I believe alaskan Eskimo folks) and tho they lived for generation and generations with ice and snow.. the visions these people had were a jaguars and the vines and serpents.. having never saw them or known of their existence .. it was thru the drawings and art they made afterwards where the strong link in visions were determined since they didnt have the words to express what they saw per se ...

with that in mind...

I find it interesting to compare the visionary phases we have...
for me .... the first vision I had where I was explaining the "person" I saw.. i only made a few references to his description and my friend then stopped me and finished telling me the rest.. i was like "how did you know that" (his additions where things specific and odd.. like what he was wearing and carrying )
he told me that other people had seen this person often.. (he hadn't, but others had) he even had a name...

after that I began to listen for reoccurring themes and people/creatures/objects...

for instance.... toothbrushes, tupac, green plant people who look like comas... rainbow gorilllas and other folks
( I was told by a few people that its actually improper to share your visions, so i will stay away from specifics)

ithink one of the most fascinating things was being with a group of people while we were all sharing the excitement of finding out we shared a the theme of toes in our vision... severed toes and toes sprouting from the ground...

and THEN to find out how toes and the first pygmy play a serious role in many of the mythologies of iboga...

supposedly (believable and probably  true, but I dont know this from any valid experience.. but conceptually it seems valid)
the bwiti and the other pygmies who have been eating iboga even longer... they know the realms and its spirits by name and purpose... they know what days of the year NOT to eat iboga and why.. when its best for a male to eat... or a female... etc etc...

its this sort of thing I feel lacking in our culture...
an awareness .. an awakeness that is in our being from long ancestral participation and ...
well.. i think the best word for us... or at least the context of life that I have lived.. no matter how much love I have for earth, nature, seasons and cycles.. I still practice koyaanisqatsi...

however...
I know that if i ever read this book I would be desperately seeking opportunities to play FIND THE PUZZLE PIECES!!!

.... awesome...
keep researching.. learn as many ways  as you can to bring about the most beneficial aspect of this as possible..

also.. go get some magnesium and electrolytes ... stay hydrated.. dont eat the day of ingestion .. and think about going slow.. there are a number of posts about how people self administered or assisted others... read what they did..
the best results came from those who went slow..
and understand that you may not even think you are as deeply involved in the dream as you really are....
so dont keep eating more because you think your not "tripping"....

be still when your feeling like puking and breath into your belly slow...

please keep reading...

and most importantly....

its not the trip itself...
i mean sure... remember your visions that first come on.... and work with the medicine as it speaks with you..
(like if some creature or person throws a ball at you... perhaps its because it wants you to throw the ball back) youll see the importance of such random silliness later on..

its what you do afterwards..
not just the next day or so...
but months...

do as many new things as posible that encourage you to be happy and healthy... new things...

if a knowledgable provider was with you... they would suggest before you even do ibogaine... look into aftercare.. how are you planning to live your life when tomorrow comes.. and start working towards it...

meet new people...
if you feel you are sick.. seek people who are healing..
support groups or like minded people who are doing the type of things you want to be doing and how you want to live..

if you dont know what you want to or can do... EXPLORE....

you think things are hard now?... ibogaine is only going to bring those things front and center for you to address them....

if you want... pm me and i will suggest some ways i have learned to make sacred space.. how to place intention and ways i have learned to invite this medicine to you....

but still... i would suggest your sitter read the posts you have sent in and read the type of response people in here have suggested...
and...
be well...

(believe me.. one thing that bothers me the most is people telling me what to do... but.. you asked in a public forum :)

... I share the sympathies toward the depth of personal weight and a lifetime of crippling defect of pychie...

that is why I am suggesting what I suggest..

I have seen ibogaine RIP PEOPLE TO SHREDS when they storm in with demands and excessive force..
leaving them regretting having ever done ibogaine.. not being patient enough to immerse themselves into the actual self work it takes to heal..
Ibogaine does not solve anything
it does not take away anything

it does not resolve or remove our pain...

ibogaine doesnt heal us..

WE do that..

and part of that is learning how to own serious responsibility for our action and our decisions ...

this may be a part of that surf..
by addressing the complicated stuff we dont want to... (with the actual support of a community who has been there and can actually understand... relate and assist)

simply...

I push my point because ... something within what i am actually trying to share... has been what has helped me to grow away from the morbib self loathing and hatred I knew all to well....

I can share happyness now..(even if i vcant spell it)  and honest joy... not the mask of keeping people from getting to close por seeing pain... but.. I have enough strength to do the new things that have helped me away from a similar place as you described.. and no..
I am not you...
but you are not alone...

if that makes sense...

i support you...
but people challenged me to get real about what I was doing...

and then yet...

there are those who explore...

they are more than bold and adventurous...
they have more than luck that brings them back after successful journeys into the unknown...

they have insight and experience to back up the bravado..

... why dont you marry it ;D

funny.. (i got chills "re-hearing" that voice ive never heard ... at least not as pee wee herman"

and surf... there is a whole other myriad of actual concerns to go over...
most providers would actually screen you before fully considering wether or not to take on a new client..
I have seen numerous applications out there.. each one asking about your history and intention...
there are doctor visits and reports..

medication complications...

heart activity...
questions about drugs, and drug history.. how you interact..
all sorts of screening to not only put you thru the red tape of cementing your intention with willingness..
but to temper a mindset and treatment plan..

in is in NO WAY a simple matter of something simple like..
"here.. i am gonna eat a quarter ounce of mushrooms. will you baby sit me so i don't eat all the play-doh?.. "

I can not think of any other substance that interacts with the human body and brain as inconsistently as Ibogaine..

if you ate drank Aya, or ate mushrooms, lsd or peyote... a physician could easily predict and determine where it will interact within the brain and effect the body...
not so much with Ibogaine...

you could eat garlic or inject novocain and know where it would show up on a brain scan...

I dont believe there are any studies that have routinely shown just HOW it will interact with the subject..
it moves in each person differently...

I am staying off point here.. what I am trying to lead to is this...

you said you have been dealing with substance abuse...

my suggestion is seek more than the approval or accomidating advice from a bunch of Iboga advocates in a forum such as this...
come here to educate and explore... and listen to what you may not want to hear...

what drugs are you on...
my observations and experience  will share this....(and this is only one persons opinion i am speaking of...)

drug interaction vary with ibogaine...
heroin withdrawal and iboga is MUCH more predictable and smoother than Methadone...

Methadone detox with iboga is GRUELING and vile.... (like it does not want to let go from the bone marrow)

getting onto short acting alternatives..... pre session ..

and holy shit.. psych meds?.... are you on any kind of medication?
ANY????

how about alcoholism?....
wanna talk unpleasant? how about watching a human who comes to iboga to kick his beer habit.. sounds simple huh? .. nope...

amphetamines?
noooo upper substance for weeks I would recommend...

these are only the considerations of one minor aspect.... detox

you mention drugs and yet have little consideration and understanding of what you may need a sitter for..

(perhaps to run you to a hospital???)

Am i freaking you out?

or asking question that encourage you to slow down....

you know the first thing I hear a lot of providers say to someone who want to do ibogaine?

"have you tried going to detox?"

I am not a provider...
I Have been around Ibogaine a while tho....

I encourage you ....
no..

I challenge you to sit down and write out your intentions...
why do you want to do ibogaine?

what do you expect from the experience..

and why/how do you think Ibogaine will help or benefit you..

what lengths are you willing to go thru to allow yourself a healthy positive Ibogaine experience...

These are all questions I had to fill out when I did ibogaine...

ugly mistakes  with hasty ignorant choices are publicized more often than not...
not only do reckless and unfullfilling ibo sessions deter people from embracing and receiving the honest miracles that seem to coincide with respectful treatments...

it keeps the truths of our natural world from human experience...

......
i didnt expect to ramble on...
i hope you read this with the compassion and respect I am attempting to share with/to you
and this is only MY opinion..
my perspective in which I share..
In NO WAY do I speak for IBOGAINE or this group...

just me
to you

... hear hear.. or... here here..

AND perhaps ENCOURAGE YOUR SITTER TO POUR OVER EVERYTHING written in  response to your inquiry... to be informed and educated as well...

I feel for everyone who has been in this forum longer than myself..
I can only imagine the frustration and difficulty of conveying the respect, and value we all share alongside the health and safety concerns while discussing Ibogaine.

KB is correct in both his  anger and his response of... we told you so..

for what it is worth.. there is an overwhelming amount of vital information that is hard to go over when your coming into this cold and with only a vague desire to try this thing we all find so amazing...

I will say this... my earnestness and desire to do ibogaine was heartfelt and adamant on doing ibogaine .... the more i forced it... the harder it became... eventually... it took 4 years before i was able to ibogaine.. i notice this often with many many people...
ibo makes a presence ... and then is very very very slow in allowing you to to dialogue...

the longer the space the greater the value and respect...

learn more...

pray about it...

yes pray..

that might seem silly or non important....

if it does... then perhaps more than a sitter is needed...
something like time and more research...
perhaps an actual provider in your area is part of the universes slow unfolding..

it will be worth the wait

not sure the sect or setting..
or its manner of translation...

but here is a Bwiti Song...

So was the beginning, Spirit of the earth, spirit of
the sky. The place that we traverse.
Father Zame, who is the gatekeeper, I come to a new
land that is the cemetery...
Lightning and Thunder.
Sun and Moon.
Heaven and Earth.
They are all of them twins.
they are life and death.
They are all twins.
The yawning hole of the grave and the new life,
they are all twins.

... Joy, full of joy the ancestors greet you and hear the news.
The anxious life of the born is at an end, at an end.
And now come the disciples of death....
I go to the dead.....

Everything is pure, pure...
Everything is new, new...
Everything is light, light...

I have seen the dead
and I am not afraid!!!

eha aho!
eh... basse!

aside from ataxia, aside from basic assistance in what now seem trite matters (such as getting up to relieve yourself or perhaps help you quietly deal with cleaning up your bed or body instead of  possibly laying in a pile of you own vomit for a number of hours because you can't manage it yourself)

there are matters to consider such as serious health matters... the reason responsible providers DEMAND an ekg before treatment is a matter not of proprietary exclusive guru nonsense.. it is a matter of serious health concerns..
to say your heart is healthy is not good enough... unsuspecting encounters with ibogaine can be deadly.. yes deadly
for instance.. a simple question like..
do you know if...
a heart beats faster or slower on ibogaine?
and why is that important?
(just an example of the type of frequently important matters to consider about ibogaine)

both valid reason to undertake serious research and inquiry
there are medication factors ..

important nutrient factors...

having a sitter is important for reasons such as to assisting you in "reentry" if you haven't made sufficient preparation for your take off..
the impact of the magnesium deficiency that happens with ibogaine alone is enough to understand the need for someone to be there and to be present...
re entry sucks ... life can be raw and fragile... you could be too weak and exhausted to motivate yourself to eat well, or drink water which will prolong your recovery..

and besides... you become more vulnerable in your 8 -12 - 26 hour period than you can expect.. (or much longer... )it is decieving because sometimes you are much more cognitive and aware of "reality" than you are with psychedelics ...(however there are stories out there of people being "lost" in some other world for up to a week before gradually coming into a safe landing)  it is a visionary substance and not recreational, your vulnerability is emotional AND physical.. add the two together.. and the safety and comfort of having someone who you can trust is able to manage the world outside your introspection is vital...

on a side note... I know a person who is very very familiar with ibogaine... VERY familiar with ibogaine.. due to his experience and knowledge of the plant medicine and his extensive experience with mind altering and mind expanding drugs...  even the whacky dissassociatives .... even he learned a strong lesson about having someone near... he went deep into a moderately high accidental self flood ..
mind you, he works with the stuff often and has helped many people benefit from their experience.. drug free, rape trauma etc...
he went so deep into his session he forgot to move... deeply within his dream, his heart rate lowered and lowered...

without another person checking in on him... he just went deeper and deeper.. feeling fine and confident he knew what he was doing..

fortunately for him, we had our dog around who in his wisdom and time around ibogaine .. and typical dog awareness.. knew something was up and jumped on the bed to get the attention of the  lone person deep in ibogaine dream..

immediately the guy knew the dog just probably saved his life... he reached over and checked his blood pressure and heart rate... which was down into the 30's...

and this wasnt dudes first rodeo if you know what i mean...

consider that there is much to glean from the info that is in here... and even more to question...

if the difference between a shithole of a miserable "trip" where you forever pronounce a hatred for ibogaine... and a potentially life changing empowerment of deep experience lays in the balance of whether someone was there to help provide even the illusion of safety and comfort for you ... or not... well..

I know it is a struggle to find providers and sitters and safe places...

sometimes a clear and calm intention will call the best to us..

either way.. ibogaine has a tendency to shatter the ego ... and rebuild, helping us to relearn..
i hope as much for you

I hope if you DO feel called to the medicine, that you are able to meet it with enough respect and dare i say humility to get the best possible outcome for this visionary and serious experience

Eboka Talk / Re: An unusual and dangerous ibogaine trip
« on: April 28, 2013, 09:25:17 PM »
maybe now is a good time to do something new for yourself... I believe many people would agree that some of the best benefits of any ibogaine experience, whether it be perceived as good or bad... is what you do the months following.
in other words...
if there was something you have always wanted to do... something good for yourself and yet would involve facing some challenges... now is the time to do that..

it might be good to remind yourself that when everything that was frightful and threatening.. it all seemed to stop when you decided to leave where you were at.. (be that emotionally or what not)

read new books
start new ventures
meet new people
eat good food and drink water... everything you do good for yourself right now could very well allow you to grow as a human in ways you never thought possible...

do things that will make you happy, things that empower you...

pause and look around you, your world and listen to everything, yourself, the trees, traffic... birds..
listen to new music..
dance..

the more you attend to  walking your way in this world with peace and sincerity.. the better the chances you may look back one day.. and look back to this moment and see it as a point where personal growth and life took a turn for the better..
....
and not just as some crazy trip that happened..

in the proper setting, with the proper people, intention and experience... Iboga can help us break the habits we keep that prevent us from being happy or .."healthy".. i hope you continue to experience such perspectives the more you read and grow
peace

oh.. and i TOTALLY agree... females sitters for female people in session promotes, a sense of safety and trust... a male figure easily becomes a precarious mirror and perceived  "threat"
