Hi Sara,
Welcome to the forum. You got a lot on your plate, it may be a good idea to read all the stories on the forum for it will give you a good idea of what to work and what to watch out for. For example Buck36 did a detox and tells what it was like on day #8 and day #15, of course it may be a little different for opiates than alcohol but you will still be able to identify.
I'll take question no. 1.
The TA and HCL debate goes on and on, much like the old Gilligens Island where people are split 50/50 on who they like better Ginger or Maryann. The HCL is faster and easier on your system than the TA. I see no reason to tax my system more that it has been so I go for the HCL. Others like the full spectrum of the flood and like the TA. When I did the HCL I was up and getting around in 20 hrs (but that does not mean a person should be left alone for what if he/she has to cook on the stove - bad idea) with the extract it was 72 hours so if the sitter or should take this into consideration also.
Since your hubby has a high tolerance I would not go over 1.5 gm of the HCL for a 175 lb guy which is is 18.86mg/kg of body weight. Now this for me was a Very high dose for it is near the top end of the 15-20mg/kg that seems to be the norm. Or you may want to try 1.4 gm which comes out to 17.6mg/kg which is still a pretty high dose. Since your hubby is an alkie rather than an opiate addict he may recover quicker, what kind of shape is he in, how old is he, how is his general health, these are the questions that you must ask yourself. See, Ibo goes to the mu receptors which is the same place the opiates go to and the Ibo seems to sooth the poor mu receptors. As far as how long to be off alcohol before the detox I have heard at least a week and I would imagine 10 days would be better.
Also Ibo is unlike any other drug. I know hubby has used acid, weed, etc, etc but these are totally different than Ibo. As far as a sitter I had my wife look in on me every now and then, I would not like someone taking my blood pressure when I am under Ibo, I just want to be left alone in a dark quiet place, don't like music with it however this is just me. Oh keep the puke bucket near you at all times, when he hears the sounds going faster and faster that is when you go to the bathroom and take care of any personal business for after the Exp starts it can be hard to walk.
As for the sitter they empty the puke bucket and keep an eye one the Experiencer (yeah just made up a new word) and may have to clean up shit or puke or whatever is necessary. Hubby will not be hungry for a few days but should keep away from stoves and chain saws and things like that. Some folks like to fast before doing Ibo but for me no way. I go a week without eating and get Very weak so a day or two before the detox I try to eat good healthy meals.
Hopefully some others will chime in and answer a few questions, that's what we do here.
Best,
Roy
