Iboga and benzo tolerance
« on: September 04, 2012, 09:25:09 AM »
I read a report on bluelight I think it was in which someone claimed to have microdosed with iboga for a summer while using a wide variety of psychoactive substances including opioids and claimed that he developed no tolerance to these substances and thus, no withdrawal. I'm starting my final year (the most important one) of college soon and I'm going to start microdosing with iboga in a few days to see if it solves my drowsiness problem and trouble concentrating but I'm anticipating that I might get anxiety because I quit xanax a few weeks ago and have some very mild withdrawal symptoms which seem to be amplified by certain substances (opioids and gabapentin greatly amplify the w/d symptoms). I stocked up on xanax so I have something to fall back on if things go wrong. I'm wondering if iboga prevents the buildup of tolerance to benzos, like it does with opioids. I've heard that iboga greatly amplifies the effects of opioids. Does it do the same with benzos? I read many threads on this forum so I know that benzos are safe to use with iboga, even during a flood (a couple of people who had severe panic attacks during a flood were given IV ativan and it solved the problem).

From my experience, micro dosing will increase your anxiety if used with or shortly after benzos.  On the other hand, when I had a ton of iboga in my system (flood levels) and my opiate receptors were stripped and I felt immense withdrawal, 2 ativans brought me into perfect comfort.  I was astounded because I was bouncing off the walls and was suddenly mellow as could be from only 2mg, even though I always had a monster benzo tolerance.  This may've had something to do with blood pressure and the clonidine taken with the ativan.

I would think it would be ok to micro dose if it's been a while since you used benzos.  It may even help reduce anxiety and provide a nice energy boost.  The problem is this is all speculative.

As far as micro dosing amplifying the effects of opiates, I say BS....not in my experience.  This was with suboxone and poppy pods though, so I can't speak for other substances.  It had zero impact on the amount I needed.  I know this because I took a break from micro dosing while on both substances.

Good luck with school.
