I just heard that they got 45 days home detention with NO probation!  I guess that is the next best thing to having it dismissed.

Just saw on facebook from Eric Taub's posting...

Dimitri Mobengo, Bobby Bovenga and Michael Kombi just went in front of a judge in Seattle today and all concerned were amazed as the judge didn't want to do anything to them. They received 45 days house detention and no probation. The judge called their people patients and was respectful of their right to religious freedom. A very interesting day for the ibogaine community. Basse!! The beginning of a new chapter.

Sorry I'm late on the news on this one, I had no internet connection for almost 7 months.  Great news, those guys are very lucky.

It's been about 2 years since I talked to Dimitri's friend, Michel the filmaker.  He said they were trying to make Bwiti a protected religion under the Religious Freedom of Restoration Act but acknowledged it would take a lot of money on the order of a million dollars to fight it all the way up the court system.  It makes sense to set up a clinic elsewhere than fight the battle here.
