« on: November 01, 2009, 06:01:07 PM »
This thread will be prime real estate to drop links to other sites, forums, published papers, etc:

Let's see what we can do to broaden our horizons! :o

here is a great site, with links to this site I might add, a wealth of knowledge and some good products (if you live outside the US)

check it out, and post away!

I have learned much from this site: http://www.myeboga.com/index.html
It's Lee Albert's site, he's also written a book about his experience with personal growth with Iboga called 'Amazing Grace'.
He's got links to elsewhere's  ;D and he approaches Iboga in a way I understand and relate to.

Good thread, Mr Quendi.
Edited to make link live.

Y' know, was recently thinking 'bout a links topic meself.  Had prepared a list-o-links for someone new to Eboka to learn from.  Mind you, not that I know any-freakin-thing myself.  But below are the links I gathered for a friend and sent to her.

I would have included the myeboga.com link if I had known about it at the time.

How about a 'Top Ten List' of Eboka links to introduce someone to the subject matter?  I see 19 links pasted below.  They should be reduced to 8, so that myeboka and pkeffect can be included, right?  Or maybe less, counting the link(s) that YOU provide.

Or, maybe, the 'Top 20' should be the goal?

Should each site (e.g. ibogaine.org) domain name be only given once?

Your thoughts on this DO matter.

Nice to see this all consolidated into one page Eon.  I read Daniels experience in Breaking Open the Head, so hearing him speak was very interesting and refreshing. The Bruce Perry initiation is one my favorites, he had an excellent show!

Marco's site is just fun to navigate and some parts are cool to learn from. Other parts are a bit to fluffy for my taste!

I'm more of a fan of evidence based addiction treatment.  I know if you believe in reading pig innards, auras and crafty little fortune cards it can bring you a sense of absolute certainty.. just like all beliefs of faith tend to do.  For me it's all relative and believing in such things are just something to wrap ones ego around in an attempt of find a comfortable and seemingly identity.

Pig innards and cards are a way to bypass the ego and let the childmind, the godmind come out and play, and share wisdom in a way that can be grasped. Magical tools are to be used until they don't need to be used and the same effect is acheived. :)
I try to be careful with babies and bathwater.

many folks just quietly loose any trust and feelings of credibility they have for the person using "magic".  They don't say anything because they don't want to make waves around all these new people that are going to be "helping" them.. but I personally feel using manipulation to bypass someones intellect is not the best way to develop respect...

I guess if they are into it then go for it but it my be worthwhile to be aware that playing identity roles with others. coming off like a witch, shaman, healer, intuitive, fortune teller etc is just going to make it harder to transcend your own ego.  It can also easily develop an unreasonable and irrational sense of certainty when taken to seriously.  We heal best when we look each other in the eye, and not playing submissive and dominative roles.

Whoa, psyche.

Pig innards are a way for ME to bypass MY ego, and get some insight from MYorTHE childmind/godmind. Magical tools are best used by ME for MYSELF until I don't need them anymore.

When I sit down and practice my own meditative and magical ways, in the privacy of my own home and/or head, I am hardly letting my ego get the best of me. I am walking around it and finding quiet and powerful places.

When I meet other people who agree with these thoughts, methods, that's when I share. And it's hardly for the purpose of self aggrandizement, more for learning.

I am not going to take this personally, because I can't tell if you mean it that way or not. But if to me directly, I think you may have misunderstood.

Love to you,
me

I've seen this sort of therapy being used at other centers and I'm not a fan of it at all and have heard several other people that found it just as unbelievable and silly as I did.  I'm not really concerned what a person does in their own head but I don't think that stuff have a place in the detox/addiction recovery paradigm.

That's all

Today, most of us have had some exposure to mechanistic, scientific knowledge.  "Don't believe in anything that cannot be tested by experiment in any lab around the world."  Being pragmatic, down-to-earth and somewhat skeptical are valuable traits.  It does tickle my funny bone, though, when I hear respectable physicists declare that 96% of the energy-mass of our universe is 'dark'.  Not black, but  unseeable and untouchable.  Sorta like what them New Age freaks talk about.

And multiple dimensions.  HA!  They even quite seriously are using the term 'multiverse' to describe the possibly infinite array of universes in which ours is but one.  I recall first seeing that term in Marvel Comics.

Another killer is the term 'spiriton' used to describe elementary spiritual particles like electrons, protons and gravitons.  Perhaps spiritons, like gravitons in string theory, exist in dimensions other than the 4 (3 of space plus time) that we are familiar with?  The string theorists are talking about 11 dimensions.  That's our common 4 plus 7 more.  Wild!

Somehow, I strongly doubt that scientists know all there is to know...

It is very understandable that someone who has never encountered the spiritual realm consciously would find it hard to accept.  There are some of us, however, who have been hit up side the head by the spiritual.  Hit up side the head hard and often.  Otherwise 'normal' folks left walking 'round in circles, shaking their heads and sayin' "What the HELL was THAT?"

Some of us have found themselves rubbing their eyes in disbelief wondering if there was something wrong with their dinner or worse.  That they had somehow gone bat-shite loco.

After that sort of thing has happened a number of times, and you're really not any crazier than before, belief in a spiritual reality disappears.  It is replaced by a deep knowledge that no scientist or skeptic can dislodge.

I'm thinking that someone with knowledge of the spiritual reality would be able to guide the mechanistic, non-believers as well as those with a spiritual belief system.  The mechanistic universe is real.  The spiritual universe is real.  Both universes comprise a subset of Total Reality.

It may indeed be much more difficult, and not as effective, for a materialist to guide one with strong spiritual tendencies.

Pardon me while I paint my face, stick feathers in my ears and jump around the fire while shaking my rattles...

Your Humble Savant and Wayfarer of Total Reality,

ET McKnight

if you believe a certain thing or person has a certain magical power it just may work out that for you it does, belief is a very powerful thing.  It is also totally relative.  Even ritual (no matter how cute and dramatic it is) comes down to nothing more than you believing its necessary to achieve a certain goal.  I believe the universe and the mind are much more malleable and strange than we will ever be able to quantify.

BUT, that doesn't mean my mind is so far open my brain has fallen out.  It's very important to know who you are working with in a session and what their paradigms of thought/experience are so you can work with them through an ally that will be useful.

Dogmatic spirituality and religious rhetoric have no place in healing unless you know the person you are working with buys into such maneuvers.. even then I think a more honest approach to their psyche and heart is much more helpful than telling them, this or that smell or this or that rock is going to fix their blah blah blah and expand their auric consciousness centers if they sleep with so and so under their pillow.

I'm no fan of empirical reductionism myself but when I'm working with someone else we have to transcend ourselves and go into a state of empathy with were they are and move forward from there.  Not the other way around.

nicely said Psychenaut....don't think there is anything I can argue with here.  Thanks for your "Shaman" like wisdom......I know you love that word "Shaman"
