advices about coosing root

Whitch root is the best on Maya?  How to coose the strongest one? Is the color or smell important?

I haven't sampled all the bark to be sure, but generally you want root bark, not whole root.  Gabon is said to have some of the best bark.  What matters is the age of the trees.  I am not sure how the color corresponds myself, but perhaps some with more experience with different types of bark can answer more accurately..
